RolfingĀ® Structural Integration FAQs
What is RolfingĀ Structural Integration?
Rolfing Structural Integration is a type of body work that aims to align the body, in gravity, through the manual manipulation of fascia. Typically, Rolfing Structural Integration is done in a Basic 10 series.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a type of connective tissue that covers the entire inside of our bodies (muscles, organs, nerves, bones, etc.) It is a three dimensional web that provides support and shape to our bodies.
What is the Basic 10 series?
The Basic 10 series is a series of 10 Rolfing Structural Integration sessions that covers theĀ entire body at a superficial, deep, and integrative level. Each session addressesĀ different areas of the body and isĀ a continuation of the previous session.
How should I prepare for my Rolfing session?
Wear your Rolfing uniform! For women this can be your bra and underwear, swimsuit, or shorts and a tank top/T-shirt. For men this can be your underwear, swimsuit, or shorts and tank top/T-shirt. Historically, Rolfing sessions are done with the client in their underwear. Also, please consider showering prior to your session, if possible, and drinking plenty of water.
What to expect during my Rolfing session?
Rolfing sessions are around 75Ā minutes long, allowing time for pre/post assessments and 60 minutes of on the table work. This is notĀ massage. You will be asked to change positions, perform small movements, and occasionally asked to get off the table during the session.
